Quantexa selected to tackle economic crime for Insolvency Service

The Insolvency Service appointed Quantexa for a three-year, multi-million-pound partnership to strengthen its use of data and AI in investigating financial wrongdoing.

The agreement will see the agency deploy Quantexa’s Decision Intelligence Platform, including entity resolution and knowledge graph capabilities, to connect information held on people, companies, addresses and transactions.

The technology is intended to help investigators identify connections between cases involving money laundering, business phoenixing and fraud linked to Covid-19 support loans.

The Insolvency Service will retain control of its data and enforcement decisions, with explainable scoring and audit trails designed to allow investigators to trace findings back to the underlying evidence.

Duncan Beach, chief executive of the Insolvency Service, said: “It means that our skilled investigators will be able to use technology to find the hidden links between cases much more quickly than they could do alone.”

The exact contract value was not disclosed.
