SQR, the Isle of Man–based digital identity company, has announced a strategic partnership with compliance specialist Global RADAR to deliver a combined identity verification and compliance solution for regulated sectors.
The partnership brings together SQR’s biometrically secured “verify-once, use-anywhere” identity technology with Global RADAR’s compliance infrastructure, targeting firms in finance, insurance and wealth management. The companies say the solution enables accurate onboarding without unnecessary storage of sensitive personal data, addressing growing demand for privacy-by-design approaches.
The joint offering is positioned as a high-assurance compliance model, delivering frictionless onboarding, intelligent monitoring and lower false positives. Early adopters are reported to be seeing improved customer experience alongside stronger regulatory controls.
United Kingdom
The Government Digital Service has published a detailed update on the development of the UK’s first digital wallet. Over the past year, GDS has built a wallet capable of holding verifiable credentials, including the digital Veteran Card and the upcoming digital driving licence.
Since October, more than 15,000 veterans have added their digital Veteran Card to the GOV.UK One Login app. In December, private testing of the digital driving licence began with staff from GDS and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. GDS says the next phase will focus on enabling programmatic verification, allowing third parties to securely validate digital credentials and reduce fraud.
The long-term goal is for government services to issue digitally verified credentials alongside traditional paper and card-based proofs, with wider rollout of the digital driving licence planned later this year.
Moldova
Moldova is preparing technical upgrades that will allow banks to digitally verify identity data directly through government systems, reducing reliance on paper documentation.
Once implemented, data will be automatically verified through the national digital platform, with physical documents required only as secondary confirmation. Banks will be able to scan ID cards and receive real-time verification from the State Services Agency, supported by dedicated readers installed in banks and government offices.
The launch of the EVO integrated government portal marks the first step toward remote identification and a national digital wallet. The portal already integrates 620 state services, with 396 available fully online, positioning it as a central digital gateway for citizens, businesses and the diaspora.
Malaysia
Eighteen banking institutions are now participating in Phase 2 of the MyDigital ID sandbox, focused on integrating the national digital identity system into financial services.
The initiative allows banks to use MyDigital ID for digital identity verification during account opening and secure banking transactions, with a particular focus on serving underbanked communities. Integration is being led by MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia.
Ten banks are currently undergoing integration, with two having completed the process. The sandbox phase is expected to conclude in March 2026, after which wider implementation may begin, subject to institutional readiness.
Global
1Kosmos and Hopae have announced a global partnership aimed at expanding access to government-issued digital identities across borders.
The integration of Hopae Connect into the 1Kosmos platform will allow organisations to verify government-backed digital credentials in an interoperable way, without reliance on centralised databases. The companies say the move addresses rising onboarding friction, abandonment rates and fraud risks linked to AI, deepfakes and synthetic identities.
The partnership is framed as part of the broader global shift toward trusted online identity, driven by government-backed digital ID schemes and regulatory frameworks such as eIDAS 2.0. The combined platform is available immediately and is positioned to support enterprise onboarding, compliance and remote identity verification at scale.

Top use cases include access to health records, medical insurance information and e-prescriptions, alongside electronic signatures and digital payments. The research, based on responses from 2,800 people across 27 EU countries, aims to guide wallet development priorities ahead of rollout expected by the end of 2026.
Different user groups showed distinct priorities, with students, businesspeople and expatriates favouring access to official documents, while frequent travellers and retirees ranked payments and e-prescriptions highly.
Poland
Poland plans to introduce digital age verification through its national digital identity app, mObywatel, as part of efforts to limit children’s access to social media.
The app will be adapted to eIDAS 2.0 regulations and expanded to include a compliant European digital identity, allowing users to prove age without disclosing additional personal data. The government has announced plans to restrict social media access for children under 15, with draft regulation expected by the end of February.
Public support for stricter age controls is growing, with recent polling showing a majority in favour of raising the minimum social media age to 16.
Scotland
The Scottish Government has highlighted the role of continuous user research in shaping the design and improvement of ScotAccount, its national digital identity service.
Feedback from surveys and usability testing has driven improvements in accessibility, guidance and error handling, particularly in identity verification flows. Officials say research insights are directly influencing planned refinements for 2026.
The approach reflects a long-term commitment to user-centred design, digital inclusion and trust, with ScotAccount positioned as a core access point for Scotland’s expanding digital public services ecosystem.
France
A new digital identity research centre has opened in Angers, bringing together start-ups, researchers, academics and industry leaders to develop and test digital identity models.
The centre is intended to support innovation, training and large-scale experimentation within Europe’s regulatory framework, with a focus on interoperability, cross-border use cases and alignment with eIDAS and the EU Digital Identity Wallet initiative.
Key public and institutional stakeholders are involved in the project, positioning the centre as a national hub for digital identity expertise.
India
India has launched a new Aadhaar App, with plans to allow users to save Aadhaar verifiable credentials into their preferred digital wallets.
The rollout will enable citizens to add Aadhaar credentials to Google Wallet in a secure, streamlined process, allowing digital identity to be stored and presented directly from smartphones. Deployment is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
