Full-cycle verification platform Sumsub has become the first identity verification provider to complete the new Global Digital Identity Certification (GDIC). The initiative was created by UK provider of Digital Identity Certification, AVID Certification Services Ltd.
The certification is based on the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) internationally recognised standard ISO/IEC 29115. The standard provides a framework for secure and standardised digital identity verification.
Sumsub said its adherence to the new GDIC affirms that its verification processes meet “the highest levels of security, consistency, on an international scale.”

The World Bank has pledged to continue to offer support through its Identification for Development (ID4D) initiative to ensure that the estimated 850 million people around the world can possess a legal and digital identity. The institution has made a similar pledge to scale up access to seamless digital payments through the Government to Person Payments (G2PX) drive.
To close the identification gap, the World Bank says it will continue to use its different support mechanisms of “exploring low-tech solutions, sharing lessons learnt from registration campaigns in lower income countries, and partnering with local organizations to better anticipate risks and barriers of marginalized groups such as vulnerable women, persons with disabilities, low income and low literacy groups, refugees, stateless populations, and more.”
United States
IDEMIA Public Security North America has announced a partnership with My Family ID to a solution to allow families to create digital IDs and capture their children’s fingerprints using a smartphone app.
The My Family ID app, now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, uses touchless fingerprinting technology and facial recognition features, enabling parents to maintain up-to-date safety profiles for their children. These profiles include detailed personal information such as the child’s full name, date of birth, physical characteristics, and any relevant medical information. In the event of an emergency, families can generate a PDF of the safety profile, which can be shared with law enforcement.
IDEMIA said all images and data captured through the My Family ID app are “fully encrypted and stored solely on the user’s device, ensuring that sensitive information remains secure.”
