On June 17th the great and the good of government digital identity came together both virtually and in person in Westminster to share the latest insight on public sector ID. With some amazing speakers from the Cabinet Office, DCMS, DWP Digital, The Home Office, DEFRA and the Pensions Dashboard; plus industry experts and some of the best regarded suppliers in the sector, the content came thick and fast and covered a huge array of topics.
But what did the delegates think of the event? We thought we’d share their feedback with you.
- 96% of all delegates rated the conference as very good or excellent.
- 96% of all delegates said that the conference was very well or extremely well organised
- 100% of respondents said that would attend the event again with 75% saying that would prefer to attend a physical event and 25% saying they would prefer to attend virtually.
- 90% of delegates that responded after attending virtually said that the virtual experience was good or excellent.
Question: What did delegates liked about the event:
- It was a great opportunity to hear directly and meet Public Sector leaders in this area
- It was interesting to hear about the sensible approaches being taken by other departments such as DWP.
- The cross-government work by our colleagues is always very interesting to see but the panel on industry points to learn was also very good.
- Great to hear the views of a diverse range of experts – both from UK and internationally.
- Most speakers stayed around – always a good sign.
- Some great speakers and real insight to what is going on in Government.
- Great variety in speakers. Good atmosphere in the room.
- It is great to see Public Sector organisations presenting and their involvement on the panels.
- Lots of different perspectives in the Digital Identity space.
- The variation of public and private speakers was brilliant.
- Good virtual portal which was easy to use.

Question: Which sessions did the delegates find particularly interesting:
- Future of Identity Discussion was great; I especially liked the “One size for many” and “Multi channel ” points Christophe and Cheryl were making in terms of a bar to aim for. Also, the inclusivity and accessibility discussions as part of this.
- Great to see an emphasis on service and inclusivity ie not just about the tech!
- DWP case study, trust framework one and the future of digital identity were the most interesting to me.
- One login for Gov was good.
- GDS, DWP and Defra sessions were brilliant.
- International Panel was fantastic.
- Keynotes, international panel, dcms and futures panel. Microsoft session was refreshingly interesting too.
Question: What topics would delegates like to see covered in agenda for the next digital identity conference in November?
- Case studies of real success with using identity services.
- Communication aspects of identity and maybe a public sector case study of where this works well. Also User design and the importance of this for inclusivity and accessibility.
- UK Digital Identity and eIDAS interoperability
- More critical analysis of what is missing, More on local and devolved governments.
- The industry needs to understand the strategic alignment between One Login for Government and the DCMS Trust Framework
- eIDAS, Open banking, mobile
- Zero trust framework, API first and how public sector organisations are using or planning to use this, National Identity Programmes (ie GDS programme) and how this affects particular areas of PS
- Vouching – who’s identity needs to be proven and how extensively if someone is vouched for
- Decentralized identity
