We are delighted to announce that UK Cyber Security Association CEO & founder – and Think Digital Partners Advisory Panel member – Lisa Ventura has made her publishing debut with a book detailing the experiences of women in cybersecurity.

Lisa Ventura and her new book, The Rise of the Cyber Women: Volume One

The publication, The Rise of the Cyber Women: Volume One, is now available to buy via Amazon Direct Publishing.

It is a compilation of inspiring stories with women in cybersecurity from all over the world. Those featured share not only their stories but also their hints, tips and advice to women who are looking to pursue a career in cybersecurity.

Lisa says she was inspired to compile and edit the book to help give a voice to other women in the industry. She hopes that the book will act as an inspirational guide to women who might be thinking about taking their first steps into a career in cybersecurity but think they lack the skills or competencies to do so.

“I entered the cybersecurity industry in 2009 when I joined Titania Ltd having spent years working in the entertainment industry and in marketing and PR. I knew that I wanted to stay in the cybersecurity industry so I founded the UK Cyber Security Association. It soon became clear that I was a minority as a woman in the industry which was dominated predominantly by men,” says Lisa.

“In 2019 I was at a talk at Infosec in London given by Professor Sue Black, [when] I had the idea for The Rise of the Cyber Women. The interest in it was huge, so much so that I am already working on volume two which will be released on 8 March 2021, in line with International Women’s Day.

“I wanted to give a voice to women in cybersecurity globally…in the hope that it helps and inspires other women to consider a career in cybersecurity, but who may be put off because they think it is very male dominated and because they think they need a technical background to enter it. I was honoured that so many amazing women shared their stories with me for the book and hope it will be a valuable resource to women in cybersecurity.”

The Rise of the Cyber Women: Volume One is available now in paperback or Kindle / eBook.
