Time to put a key date in that shiny new 2018 work planner on your desktop: Friday, 18th May.

The reason: that’s the date anyone interested in digital identity and verification in the UK public sector needs to get over to handy central London business meeting venue One Great Great George St, London to catch THINK.Digital Identity for Government.

THINK.Digital Identity for Government is a special new event from Think Digital Partners, the organisation behind the well-known Think Digital Government conferences.

Supported at the highest levels of digital government in Whitehall by the leadership of the Government Digital Services (GDS), THINK.Digital Identity for Government has been put together to try and lock down what we all need to be doing about this critical issue in the next few months.

Explaining the motivation for creating the conference, Matt Stanley, Director of Think Digital Partners, comments that, “2018 is going to be a huge year for Digital Identity right across the British public sector.

“This conference will bring together some of the leading figures on Identity in both the public and private sector to discuss the opportunities and challenges the country faces around digital identity over the next 12 months.”

Speakers already confirmed include the GDS Director General Kevin Cunnington, who will be talking about the next phase of Gov Verify, and Jerry Fishenden, Former Co-Chair of the Cabinet Office’s Privacy & Consumer Advisory Group.

With the day being kicked off by well-respected independent public sector IT analyst Jess Figueras, Chief Analyst at Global Data, and other moderators such as the Editor of Government Computing David Bicknell, the event is already shaping up as one of the most content-rich public sector conference of the first part of the year. Commercial partners include identity specialist Mvine, whose Director, Frank Joshi, told Think Digital Partners,”Digital Identity is fundamental to the future of the digital economy, while securing its adoption relies on citizen consent and on a Government-assured regulatory framework that the Government promotes and the citizen trusts.

“It’s essential the citizen is able to assert their own digital identity online whenever and to whoever they wish. Digital identity allows the UK Government to deliver better and faster services to the citizen who interact with Central and Local Government, removing manual processes of identification verification.

“This has to be good for the citizen today, tomorrow – and in the future.”

Given the importance of the topic and the quality of the speakers being assembled, it’s a cert that THINK.Digital Identity for Government will be a highly popular show.

We know it’s early, but now could be the perfect time to make sure of your chance to participate in the event by going straight to the event’s special online Registration page to lock down you and your team’s places on 18th May.

We’ll keep you updated with more news on confirmed speakers and features of the event over the next few weeks – and hope to see you in May!
