GDS admits to headaches in publishing government data

Data.gov.uk team says problems down to internal processes in departments, issues with the service or existing IT, or difficulties in turning unpublished records into published datasets

Latest headlines from our content partner 'Government Computing'In a blog post published on the “Data in Government” blog, the data.gov.uk team has admitted that there are “quite a few problems with publishing to data.gov.uk” – notably around data quality.

It indicated that that while publishing a new dataset on data.gov.uk is “fairly straightforward”, keeping things up to date and consistent isn’t always so.

The blog explained, “We have known for a while that there are quite a few problems with publishing to data.gov.uk. Some are due to internal processes in departments, others are issues with the service or existing IT. Some colleagues struggle to update their records on data.gov.uk, others find it difficult to turn unpublished records into published datasets.”
