Credas and IDGO partner to supply ID to millions

Credas and IDGO are teaming up to tackle ID accessibility issues across the UK.

Identity verification supplier Credas Technologies is partnering with IDGO, a licensed PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) card issuer in the UK, to enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of identification solutions.

Recent data reveals that more than one million driving licences were reported lost or stolen in a single year, leading to substantial replacement costs and inconvenience for citizens. Additionally, the introduction of mandatory voter ID laws has highlighted that approximately 3.5 million UK voters do not possess any form of photo ID, potentially hindering their ability to participate in democratic processes.

These issues are further exacerbated for vulnerable populations, such as the homeless and ex-offenders, who often face barriers to obtaining traditional forms of identification.

Credas said that by integrating its identity verification technology, IDGO will ensure that “all individuals, regardless of their circumstances, have access to reliable identification, facilitating their participation in voting, education, employment, and banking.”

By leveraging a combination of trusted third-party sources—including the HALO database, Amberhill, and the electoral roll—Credas said it ensures accurate and secure identity validation.

“For too long, the lack of accessible and affordable identification has excluded people from fundamental aspects of life, from employment to voting and banking. With the growing need for proof of age, especially as young people will soon need to verify both their age and identity to access social media platforms, this issue has never been more pressing,” said Dannii Hadaway, founder at IDGO.

“At IDGO, we are on a mission to change that. Partnering with Credas enables us to enhance the security and trustworthiness of our ID solutions while keeping them affordable and inclusive. Together, we are not just verifying identities; we are empowering people with the means to fully participate in society.”

“At Credas, we believe that identity verification should be seamless, secure, and, most importantly, accessible to all,” added Tim Barnett, CEO of Credas. “Our partnership with IDGO is a significant step towards breaking down barriers to identification, ensuring that individuals can access essential services without unnecessary hurdles. By combining our ID verification technology with IDGO’s commitment to inclusivity, we are driving positive change and making reliable identification more attainable for everyone in the UK.”

Looking to the future, IDGO is developing the UK’s first dual-sided ID and payment card, which it said streamlines identification and financial transactions “into a single, user-friendly solution.”
