Global

Biometric identity vendor iProov has seen a 63 percent increase in transaction volume on its platform compared with the same timeframe last year.

The firm noted that the identity verification market is showing consistent growth, fuelled by the rapid digitisation of services, and the escalating threat of sophisticated cyberattacks, particularly deepfakes that leverage generative AI. 

iProov recently expanded its partner ecosystem with the likes of Avoco Secure, Guardline, and TrustCloud.

Anguilla

The Government of Anguilla (GOA) and Identity Digital, to increase the revenue the government receives from its .AI domain. The boom in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and use of .AI domains generated 20 percent of the government’s total revenue in 2023 alone.

Together, Identity Digital and the Government of Anguilla said they plan to “build a world-class registry management program that prioritizes quality domains and instils trust in .AI domain names for years to come.”

Vietnam

Sixty million taxpayers in Vietnam will have access to a mobile tax application, eTax Mobile with their electronic identification by 2025.

With plans to spread Digital ID across the digital tax management system, the General Department of Taxation will integrate tax codes into the national population database.

E-verification data will be managed on VneID, the national population mobile application. The proposals will improve administrative efficiencies and deliver an identifiable tax population database.  By next year, 100% of taxpayers should have linked  e-IDs to their tax affairs, reports Identity Week.

Europe

Mastercard has announced the expansion of its Identity Attribute Verification service across several European countries, aiming to enhance the security and efficiency of online identity checks. The new service enables businesses and financial institutions to verify key customer details, such as age, date of birth, and address, using existing payment card data, without the need for customers to upload additional documentation such as photo IDs or proof of residency.

United States

Managed identity solutions provider (MISP) BeyondID has announced a fraud prevention solution for its customers. It will be part of the company’s managed identity solutions and help customers to “deliver a secure total experience.”

Panama

Panama is to introduce a digital ID for its citizens and permanent residents, which will serve as a secure means of identification access government and private services online. The digital ID will replicate the information from the physical or printed-format documents issued by the Electoral Tribunal.

The digital ID will be optional, and will not replace the physical version of the identity documents. It will have the same legal validity as the physical document issued by the Electoral Tribunal and must be accepted by all public entities and private companies that offer services online. It will allow secure storage of personal documents such as the digital ID, medical history, and resume.

The wallet will be managed through a mobile app that will require security verification such as facial and biometric recognition for access. Users will need to download the app on their smartphones to access the digital ID and other documents.

Global

Identity management company Okta sad it is embracing a partner first growth strategy to elevate the role of partners across Okta.

The partner first approach includes a central hub for partners to access the self-service resources and tools needed to grow their businesses. The new digital partner community includes on-demand education, just-in-time communications, self-service marketing automation, and project submission capabilities. It will also showcase partner solutions to customers and connect with sellers.

Okta also announced a new cross-industry security initiative for SaaS providers led by Okta and several big tech companies such as OpenID Foundation, Microsoft, Google and Ping Identity to address the fact that nearly all SaaS apps today are not built to be secure by design, which is even more dangerous with AI agents being integrated into apps.

Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan says digital identity is one of the main components of its national development plan.

Kyrgyzstan’s Digital Transformation Vision for 2024–2028 aims to integrate public services through platforms like Tunduk, modeled after Estonia’s X-Road system. The Ministry of Digital Development is leading the execution of the plans, says Biometric Update.

Additionally, to improve travel and regional security, Kyrgyzstan is investigating cross-border digital identity possibilities with neighbours such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Global technology companies like Mühlbauer and Emptech are delivering biometric credentials and digital IDs.

Global

SkyQuest projects that the Global Identity Verification Market will reach a value of $39.73 billion by 2031, with a CAGR of 16.7 percent during the forecast period. The increasing identity-related fraud and cybercrime have given rise to initiatives in digitisation. The increase in use cases of data security across sectors fuels the business of identity verification. Moreover, policies initiated by organisations and governments toward digitisation and the implementation of advanced technologies such as automation, machine learning, and AI in identity verification systems would give them ample opportunity to introduce their identity verification solutions, it said.
