MLL Telecom has been awarded two public sector contracts for its networking services.

The company has renewed its managed network services contract with Royal Borough of Greenwich Council (RBG).

Valued at around £4 million over four years, the new contract ensures the continuation of MLL’s work which commenced in 2017 to enhance the connectivity, security and resilience of RBG’s wide area network (WAN), local area network (LAN) and wireless (Wi-Fi) solutions. These are being managed and deployed across 50 sites on a mixed network infrastructure including legacy xDSL copper and fibre technologies, with approximately half of RBG’s estate now receiving upgraded connectivity as part of the new contract.

The contract also encompasses the continuing services of a permanent MLL network support team onsite, which is comprised of five engineers and one manager and which is embedded in RBG’s own IT team.

“Our renewal of MLL’s contract ensures the seamless continuation of their work in supporting and improving the quality and security of our WAN, LAN and WiFi services. These are vital to the efficiency of RBG’s day to day operations,” said Timo Bayford, head of technology for the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

“We are delighted to be working closely with Royal Borough of Greenwich as their managed network services partner – their renewal of our contract is testament to the level of trust placed in our network expertise and service delivery,” said David Porter, strategic client director, MLL Telecom. “We look forward to maximising the performance of their network in the years to come and the exciting potential for introducing new technologies and services including managed security.”

MLL’s work with Greenwich follows a three-year contract win earlier this month with Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust for the provision and management of 10GB WAN.

The award, valued at around £300,000, was made following a tender on the RM3825 framework.

Due for implementation this summer, MLL’s network solution will support Torbay and South Devon’s ongoing delivery of Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) services. The 10GB network represents a ten-fold increase over the existing solution to ensure greater bandwidth and resilience. Along with secure connectivity, the network’s increased capacity and performance will facilitate the delivery of shared services as well as enable enhanced access to information by users and patients.
