The Government Digital Service (GDS) has selected professional services firm Deloitte to support the delivery of its new government-wide login system for citizen services, One Login.

The goal of One Login is to provide a single cross- system offering citizens access to a range of services delivered across government departments.
The two-year contract came into effect on March 24 and will be worth almost £11 million to Deloitte. The company will take on the role of professional services delivery partner in the programme and provide multi-disciplinary teams to deliver outcomes based statements of work.
Smartphone app
Deloitte was also picked in February to deliver a new £4.8 million smartphone app that will integrate with the wider One Login programme. The dedicated GOV.UK app is intended to offer a ‘one-stop shop’ through which users can access hundreds of services.

As first reported by TDP in November 2021, the DBS is to be the first government organisation to employ the initial iteration of the new login system in 2022.
The Home Office also said employers and landlords can use certified Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) service providers to carry out digital identity checks on their behalf for many who are not in scope to use the Home Office online services, including British and Irish citizens.
The changes to legislation were flagged to take effect from today: April 6, 2022.
Public Technology reports that the contract is the largest of four deals awarded by GDS to suppliers to support the One Login programme. Aside from contract for Deloitte to develop the mobile app, the other two contracts respectively addressed ‘technical outcomes’ and ‘product outcomes’. Each of these deals is worth about £2 million. Both were won by Leeds-based consultancy Hippo Digital.
