New cybersecurity channel partnership targets public sector vulnerabilities

Deep Instinct and Phoenix Software partner to bring deep learning cybersecurity to UK public sector

A new preventative cybersecurity solution is being rolled out to government and education following an increase in cyberattacks across the sectors.

Deep Instinct has signed a reseller agreement with IT service provider Phoenix Software to sell and market its Prevention Platform to the UK public sector.

The platform, which is built upon Deep Instinct’s proprietary deep learning framework, claims to stop unknown and previously unseen malware and threats at the endpoint before they can infect the network.

Deep Instinct says the partnership signifies the evolution of its channel programme to include a focus on the public sector, alongside its established enterprise partnerships. It also broadens the company’s geographical reach across the UK.

The initial focus for the engagement will see Phoenix focus on working with government and education establishments across the UK. As highlighted by the NCSC earlier this year, the education sector, which includes schools, colleges and universities, continues to be a prime target for ransomware attacks by cybercriminals.

A prime target

“The public sector continues to be a prime target for attackers as they seek to cause maximum disruption and hold the industry to ransom. We need to work together to stop these criminals from having all the control and bringing SOC teams to their knees, and this means making true prevention capabilities available and accessible to all,” said Sam Linford, VP channel and MSSP EMEA at Deep Instinct.

“Phoenix has the expertise and extensive contacts in the public sector space, which will open doors for us and will ensure that customers have access to the latest innovative solutions that will put them on the front foot when it comes to stopping cybersecurity threats before they even hit the network. This is a true prevention-first approach and represents a significant opportunity for both us and Phoenix in providing a solution that will secure the public sector against attacks.”

The company says its Prevention Platform can identify zero-day attacks in less than 20 milliseconds before they infect the endpoint and wider IT infrastructure. With a high degree of accuracy and a low false-positive rate, the Prevention Platform significantly reduces the risk of a breach by stopping attackers in their tracks 750x faster than the fastest known ransomware can begin to encrypt.
