Join The Debate About Engineering Truly Smart Government

On June 7th, THINK Smarter Working For Public Sector 2018 promises to be your one-stop shop for the answers to the questions you’re starting to ask about Smarter Working

Posted 19 March 2018 by Gary Flood

Do you find yourself wondering if you need to work harder to cope with all the challenges of Brexit, a changing society and the demands of 21st century politics… or smarter.
Then you need to put this date in your diary, now: Thursday, 7th June.
And your next action – contact us at once to secure your place at the best upcoming conference this year for all things Smarter Working.
Working with our key partners independent advisory group GlobalData Public Sector and the editorial team at Government Computing, Think Digital Partners has architected a special one-day event that will cover all the topics you care about as a public sector professional when it comes to the issue.
So at Think Smarter Working For Public Sector 2018 the central question around Smarter Working – could a smarter attitude to Whitehall and wider public sector working make government more effective? – will be addressed by those actually leading the charge in trying.
The event commences at 9.15am (registration and morning coffee) and concludes promptly at 4pm, and will be hosted by convenient Central London conference venue One Great George Street (nearest Tube, Westminster).
And as the very content-led agenda demonstrates, delegates can expect input from an impressive list of domain experts and stakeholders.
These include the Director of Capability for the Digital, Data and Technology profession at Government Digital Service, Holly Ellis. Ellis will discuss the need to build capability within not just Departments, but everything that sits around them, including career progression, pay, learning and development, attraction, culture and the diversity of the DDaT workforce, as well as the strategic solutions being deployed to enable the DDAT profession nationwide to scale up in line with government ambitions for digital government.
She is also sharing a stage on the 7th with another very senior government IT leader – the Deputy Director for Universal Credit at the Department of Work & Pensions, Kit Collingwood-Richardson. Collingwood-Richardson is ready to talk to the event’s audience about the achievements of One Team Government, an initiative set up to help reform government for the benefit of citizens and which also sees itself as having a mission to make government “fit for the Internet age”.
These two very senior Whitehall heavyweights are to be complemented by a range of other experts, including the Chief Analyst at GlobalData Public Sector, Jessica Figueras, who will be speaking about the landscape for smarter working in government – including the fascinating question of what tools, technology and methodologies public sector organisations will need to properly equip their staff for a future with fewer buildings.
Figueras and the other speakers will be guided through the day by the conference chair, highly-respected IT editor, David Bicknell.
The event is being supported by industry, too, including tier one public sector vendors UKCloud and Kahootz. The latter’s Sales and Marketing Director, John Glover, told us, “Cloud technologies are now enabling public sector organisations to work smarter, and with the appropriate security controls in place it is now extremely simple for staff to work and access information together.
“As a company committed to improving business-to-business collaboration in the cloud, Kahootz is delighted to be involved with Think Smarter Working for the Public Sector 2018.”
Commenting on the commitment of suppliers like UKCloud and Kahootz to the event, Think Digital Partner’s Director Matt Stanley promises that, “This is going to be a great conference.
“We are covering this topic from two angles – the technology that allows teams to work smarter in terms of the most appropriate hardware, software and infrastructure.
“That’s critical, but we are also looking at the people side of this – the culture, the skills and the capability government needs to Work Smarter and the ethics underpinning smarter working.
“We also note that this is the first serious attempt to open a debate about these issues at this level of expertise and Whitehall representation.”
If you feel intrigued enough to register, the good news is that the event is FREE to qualified public sector professionals – so please go here to grab your chance to participate in the dialogue – and see you on June 7th!
There’s also good news for suppliers, as there still a few limited opportunities for commercial participation. If you think your voice would add to the debate, drop a line to Matt as soon as you can (matt.stanley@tdpstaging.uk).
